Windows Backup Overview
Our Windows module protects both Windows Servers and Desktop machines at the file system and bare-metal level. Back up system state, files, folders, and databases — then restore granularly or as a complete system recovery.
- Bare-metal and file-level backup for Windows Server and Desktop
- System state backup for Active Directory and domain controllers
- Built-in SQL agent for Microsoft SQL Server backup
- Incremental backups after the first full — minimal bandwidth usage
- Restore individual files, folders, or full system
- ISO 27001 and SOC 2 certified storage on Azure or Wasabi
- Unlimited retention with private encryption
Why Back Up Windows?
Windows environments are vulnerable to ransomware, hardware failure, accidental deletion, and software corruption. Built-in Windows tools like VSS and Windows Server Backup are useful but are not a substitute for an off-site cloud backup.
Windows Server versions supported
We support Windows Server 2008 R2 through to Windows Server 2025, and Windows 10 / 11 desktops. See the full supported versions list.
Can I back up SQL Server on Windows?
Yes. The Windows module includes a built-in Microsoft SQL Server agent that backs up databases in a consistent state without taking the database offline.
Windows Backup FAQ
Can I restore a single file rather than the whole system?
Yes. Our module supports granular restore — you can restore individual files, folders, or the entire system depending on your needs.
How much bandwidth does it use?
After the first full backup, only changed blocks are sent — deduplication and compression reduce bandwidth usage significantly.
Is my data encrypted?
Yes. All data is encrypted with a private password you control. We never store or have access to your encryption password.
